Avaloketeshvara’s Dream

Avaloketeshvara was climbing the last hill to his own Enlightenment when he heard other people crying .  He turned around and could not go on until everyone was able to join him.  That is why he is depicted as the one with a thousand arms of compassion.

I have always loved his story and I try to follow his dream.  There are always those who are suffering .  I had a dream the other night about the Radiant Buddha. I felt as if the dream was a message.   I was walking across a parking lot near my home when all of a sudden I was transferred to a large Buddhist Temple.  The monks were singing and chanting the words “The Radiant Buddha”.  One monk stood in front of me and said “That’s for you” .  There were many large golden statues of Buddha in the temple.   As I walked back into the parking lot  the wind was blowing in my ears and the cries and screams were so loud I could not bear them.

For many days I have contemplated the dream and I have come up with the fact that we all have great responsibility to help others when ever we can.  The helping can be anything.  You don’t have to do something big.  You don’t have to be prepared.  But you do have to GET OUT THERE AND DO SOMETHING!   Anything that would benefit someone.  We all can follow Avaloketeshvara’s dream this December on the Day of helping…….December 7th.    Please donate items that are on the upcoming list.   Also, whenever you make someone else smile, you smile too.  I Love You All,  Smile! , Marjorie

One Response to “Avaloketeshvara’s Dream”

I was with a male friend this weekend who was beating himself up over the fact that he couldn’t bring himself to continue visiting a good friend who was dying. The two buddies used to mountain bike together and now my friend hated seeing his once athletic equal in such an immobil state. He said he, “didn’t know what to say”. (As most of us do)

I told him to stop feeling bad and at least for now, try sending warm, loving energy to his friend at night before falling asleep and immagine biking together, laughing and enjoying the outdoors.
He did and the next morning, his friend called HIM and told him about this detailed dream he had had the night before about biking with my friend AND how it had lifted his spirits and made him feel “very alive”. My friend plans to visit his pal soon.
    Love travels in many ways!!!
